Overview of Koalafi's Protection Plus program that offers coverage for you and your leases

Overview

Koalafi's Protection Plus program offers you a simple way to cover a part or all of your active lease payments in the event of adverse life events such as unemployment, hospitalization, or loss of life. Protection Plus also gives you access to special wellness perks, such as telemedicine services, and discounts for certain categories such as groceries and travel.**

The program is optional, and you will be provided details of the program and its benefits before you have the option to sign up. Protection Plus costs $12.99 / month and you can cancel at anytime.

Protection Plus is an add-on offering, which means:

  • The terms of the lease agreement are not affected by your decision to add Protection Plus.

  • Enrolling in Protection Plus does not affect the lease activation process or affect the lease's regular payments.

  • Protection Plus payments are charged separately from your lease payments.

  • Involuntary Unemployment

    • Covers a part or all of your active leases in the event that you lose employment as a result of being fired (except as set out in the exclusions), involuntarily laid off, or suspended or out of work due to a company strike, labor dispute or if your place of employment closes.

  • Accident & Sickness

    • Covers a part or all of your active leases in the event that you become sick or injured and are unable to work.

  • Courtesy Waiver (Loss of Life Lease Waiver)

    • Covers the customer's active leases in the event of the death of any member named on the lease agreement(s).

How It Works

You can enroll in the program directly in the application after you sign your lease agreement. The Protection Plus offer screen provides detailed information about the program and its applicable benefits so that you can decide whether to enroll.

If you choose to join the program, Koalafi will use the bank account provided during your lease application to process Protection Plus payments.

What is Protection Plus?

Koalafi's Protection Plus program offers a set of benefits which include partial or full lease protection when certain life events like involuntary unemployment, hospitalization, or loss-of-life occur over the course of the lease that impact your ability to make payments.

The exact benefits are dependent by state and are highlighted on the membership agreement on the offer screen.

How does it work?

You enroll into the program during your application and coverage begins when your lease begins. Regular payments are made monthly using the bank information provided during your lease application.

You will get a separate email to create a separate login for your benefits once your lease begins. Access benefits and file protection claims from the membership portal.

Protection Plus payments are charged separately from your lease's regular payments.

How much does it cost?

Protection Plus is $12.99/month.

When do I get charged?

The first charge occurs when you receive your goods and your lease starts. Recurring payments are charged monthly. You will be charged on the bank account that you provided during your lease application.

What will I be covered for?

The primary protections are for involuntary unemployment, accident & sickness, and protections for your family in loss-of-life.

If I don't sign up now can I add Protection Plus later?

No. At this time, you are only able to add Protection Plus immediately after you sign your lease agreement.

Are there other benefits?

Yes. The protection program offers several other benefits which vary by state.

How do I access my benefits? How do I file a claim?

You can access your benefits and file claims in the Protection Plus membership portal. You can find a link to the portal from the initial enrollment email or in your Koalafi account.

Do the lease payments covered by a claim have to be paid back later?

No. All lease payments covered by the program during your hardship do not have to be paid back.

Will filing a claim and receiving hardship payments adversely affect my credit?

Filing a claim and receiving hardship payments will not directly affect your credit. However, you must stay current on your lease obligations to prevent adverse impact to your credit.

Does this protect my loans?

No. This product is currently offered for lease-to-own protection only.

I have an existing lease, is that covered as well?

Yes. The protection program covers all new and existing leases. However, claims for coverage can only be filed for events that occur after enrollment. Enrollment occurs when the new lease is activated.

I changed my mind, can I get a refund?

We do not offer refunds for previous payments, however, you can cancel at any time.

Can I cancel later?

Yes. You can cancel at any time. Call Koalafi’s Customer Support team at 844.937.8275 or email Koalafi at customerservice@koalafi.com and request un-enrollment from Protection Plus.

Do I still have access to Protection Plus after I make my final lease payment?

Yes. You will still have access to the program's benefits even after you pay off your lease. You will also be charged monthly while you remain enrolled in the program.
